National Meadows DayDate: Saturday 1st July 2017

Once again the country is holding National Meadows Day where herbal and species rich traditional meadows are opened up to the public. Piper Hole at Ravenstonedale owned by Frank and Ruth Hunter is opening it's gates to host this event. Admission is free and all are welcome. There will be guided walks around Cumbria's first Coronation Meadows giving an insight into how the meadows are managed and the essential roll the meadows play in being self sustaining and the way in which livestock benefit from grazing the meadows. There will be the opportunity to identify flowers and grasses with a meadow surveyor.
Refreshments will be available and the opportunity to see the dairy herd of goats that graze the herbal pastures, sample some goats milk soap made from the milk.
There will be on going discussions regarding “Holistic Land Management “ and how the farm has resorted back to nature.
The farm is in the process of installing a pasteurising plant for the goat milk. Goat meat and milk will be available to purchase very soon you are welcome to come and see the future plans for Piper Hole.
